What are you talking about? I did not mention anything about “death panels” or any other such nonsense. Your reference to the Independent Payment Advisory Board as a “death panel” is your reference–no one else’s. I sure the media will alert us if any body “dies” as a result of an advisory board. So far, I have not heard a thing.
First off–don’t count on Jim Fulghum, a conservative (and probably a Tea Party favorite) to help you get affordable, quality health care insurance. He states on his candidate advertisement that he will “get rid of Obamacare as it is ruining our healthcare in this country.” Your only shot for affordable health care is under the Affordable Health Care Act which covers an additional 40 million people–and pre-existing conditions.
Jim certainly is not going to go to bat for any healthcare plan for you other than buying it “in the market.” You have already discovered, like millions of others, that you will go bankrupt “in the market.”
You should be petitioning the Supreme Court to leave the Affordable Health Care Act alone and cross your fingers.
To George DeMarse,
The ‘Death Panel’ in the PPACA is the Independent Payment Advisory Board. Also, mandatory End of Life Counseling every 5 years for everyone on Social Security. You take the cost of a procedure and divide it by the number of years you are expected to live and you get a cost per year. Surgery and many treatments on old people are not ‘cost effective’. A group of men on the IPAB will be deciding who gets healthcare and who gets End of Life Counseling. We need free market reforms, not Soviet-style top-down authoritarian control by a government that can’t balance it’s own budget.

first i would like to thank dr fulghum for the 3 times he worked on my neck. i would like support on getting insurance that is truly affordable and complete coverage. i have priced from all major companies and can not come up with anything “affordable”. the rates i have been quoted are all around 1500.00 a month. this comes to 18000.00 a year which is 36% of my gross pay and has exemptions that include cancer, back, and mental health. some of my drugs are also not included. this upsets me because i can not provide health care for my family of 4. i am also a vet and have been unable to get what i am entitled to. i currently pay out of pocket and it is killing my finances. thanks for your concern and good luck and hope you win in election. with deepest respect philip
