More illegal emails sent through the school system

October 29, 2010 by NC Tea Party Staff 3 Comments

This time, it’s Wiley Middle School out of the Winston Salem / Forsyth County school system:

“For the second time in eight days, an e-mail containing a political communication was forwarded by local educational employees in violation of policy, this time in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County school system.

On Tuesday, an office assistant at Wiley Middle School forwarded a request by the Forsyth County Association of Educators that urged members to attend yesterday’s local rally for Elaine Marshall, the Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate.

Marshall received the endorsement of the N.C. Association of Educators at the event.

The e-mail was sent to 66 Wiley employees and one person at Reynolds High School, including Sean Gaillard, the principal of Wiley.

According to Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools policy, employees are prohibited during their work day from using e-mail from the system or an individual school for political campaign activities.

Nathan Tabor, the chairman of the county Republican Party, said that the forwarding of the e-mail represents “illegal campaign activity. Taxpayer money is being used to promote a political agenda.”

Theo Helm, a spokesman for the school system, acknowledged that the forwarding of the e-mail “is clearly against the policy.”

Tripp Jeffers, the president of the Forsyth County association chapter, said that Wiley was the only school from which the e-mail was forwarded. [read more]

This is the same school system that Jim Toole (article) is running to represent. The noted conservative candidates in this school board race can be found on our “Forsyth County Candidate picks” page. You might remember the scandal concerning the illegal emails sent out by Winston Salem State University less than two weeks ago. The common thread? Support for the Democratic Party. Nathan Tabor has a request on the Forsyth County Republican Party’s Facebook group:

“did you see the Wiley Middle School email? Well, apparently there are more emails at more Forsyth County schools . I am building a list. Do you work at a school? have a friend who does? Please let me know if you have received an email involving politics. Email me at nathan@nathantabor.com – I will NOT release your name”

If you have any additional information (even if you’re not in Forsyth, but receiving political emails through the school system), please report it to him. We must end this era of disgrace in our educational system!

    WHERE ARE ALL THE JOBS?
Many are asking today why our jobs have not come back as we recover from recession like in the past. The answer is quite simple – there is no comparison between this time and any time in memory when conditions have been so drastically altered in ways detrimental to our free enterprise system in such a short span of time. In the past, we knew what to expect and how to plan our way out of recession and that the rewards would be there for those who did so, unlike today.
Our free economy and way of life were founded on a system whereby individuals or groups developed ideas or products, found investors and put themselves at risk financially to build and distribute these to the public in anticipation of rewards commensurate with the level of commitment, hard work and risk that they undertook to facilitate their success. In almost every case where federal agencies intervened to correct situations, we can see unanticipated consequences that added tremendous expense to our economy with little if any benefit. When left to its own devices and just a bit of tweaking, the economy has always righted itself over time and moved beyond the problem point to grow even more – most often encouraged by lower tax rates on individuals and businesses. This time is different and, so, the result is predictably different.
Unfortunately, our country and government have been hijacked by “progressives” who have interfered in the free market in their efforts to “redistribute” the wealth of those who took on the risk to build it and the companies that have thrived under our system of free market economics. The “progressive” efforts to transform our country into a land that offers rewards without risk or effort, no responsibility for one’s personal wellbeing, healthcare without cost, open borders to any and all with benefits, etc, has effectively transformed the equation of risk and reward to a point that kills most investment and makes risk under present circumstances all but unthinkable. In the short span of four years (remember, unlike what the Dems like to say, THEY have controlled the budget and Congress since 2006 and created many of the ‘building blocks’ that led to an almost total meltdown of our economy), our land of the free has become something totally unintended by our Founding Fathers.
Those in position to create jobs face unprecedented and incredibly daunting challenges to do so making any decision to place oneself at further risk through investment or hiring, largely unthinkable. Some of the more formidable challenges facing anyone contemplating job creation today are:
    • A healthcare upheaval crafted by a few Dems behind closed doors (instead of openly on Cspan) and RAMMED through the House so quickly those who voted for it were not allowed to READ it prior to voting and, to this day, have no clue what it will do to the economy (lots of new hidden taxes on home sales, capital gains, dividends, etc, that could quickly redistribute a lot of wealth from those who have it). Under this new system, companies with employees are subjected to unknown costs, penalties and red tape issues as well as new oversight by government minions who have no clue what they are overseeing. Unfortunately, a law most Americans disagree with that was rammed through in a horrible economy filled with unknowns does not stimulate hiring.
    • The threat of a “cap and trade” bill that will increase costs across the board while doing little to “save” the environment it claims to protect. More expensive energy has never been proven to be a strong stimulant for hiring more people based on past experience.
    • An administration clearly in the hip pocket of unions that promote union membership to all who “serve” the public . How does it feel to have tax dollars pay union dues for “public servants” paid 40% more than equivalent private sector jobs already who need help to “collectively bargain” with taxpayers? There are now more union members working in government than private enterprise who apparently need unions to protect them from employer abuses from – guess who? – TAXPAYERS! Why, oh, why?? Private enterprise simply cannot compete.
    • An administration that tells you they not only want most of what you earn / produce while you are living but also want to take over half of what you have left when you die! Most people who create wealth do so with the intent that their families will enjoy the fruits of their labor when they are gone, not so government can squander it or give it to a country that already hates us.
    • A financial system that is predictably out of control. Our unprecedented deficits will, without a doubt, lead to higher inflation and much higher interest rates. I remember when Carter ran the spending up leading to hyper inflation and mortgage rates above 20%! Everyone states that the current deficits are unsustainable yet they propose even more trillion plus deficits!!! Those who risk borrowed capital now to hire are looking at unsustainable debt service demands that can lead to failure without a major change in the direction our government is taking us presently.
    • This administration is bent on making its agenda the standard by hook or crook. Motto – if you can’t berate members of the House and Senate who were voted into office into passing agenda items voters object to, you can just REGULATE the agenda in place! Why did Founding Fathers not think of that? This administration can end the moratorium on drilling but plan to refuse to approve applications for new wells. Same result and it saves all that messy public discourse!
    • This administration admonishes Europeans to borrow more to spend more to stimulate their economies and, thereby, stimulate the world economy. Problem – they already TRIED spending far more than they had by “investing” in social programs such as the ones Obama wants in place that failed miserably so they have already been there and done that and think we are led by a group of fools who failed to learn basic economics in Community Organizing School. No thanks.
    • An administration that claims to have the interests of today’s elderly at heart as they limit their healthcare options, increase their costs and tax the heck out of the dividends and gains many live on to supplement the meager Social Security payments they receive from a system that pays deceased persons and illegals because it lacks the controls to effectively do its job already.
    • Entitlements that have become totally out of control with excessive benefits, minimal controls and no end in sight to further expansion which removes much incentive for workers to find jobs and careers. You can only steal from the rich for so long before you run out of other people’s money and run the employers away. Even Fidel Castro now admits that the Cuban system never did work and needs free markets and private employers to succeed! Socialism does not work and never has but this administration seems to think it was just done wrong by all in the past.
    • This administration is bent on increasing taxation for anyone who succeeds in business or other enterprise to punish accomplishment rather than reward it – except lawyers who sue doctors or hospitals, of course. They also tried this in Europe. What happened? Employers began keeping dual sets of books to avoid paying taxes that were exorbitant and moved their wealth to other countries creating jobs and economic growth there instead of in their home country.
    • Regulatory agencies that are far more concerned with their own survival than whether they are performing a valid service or act as a hindrance to growth and prosperity. Too many inspectors and regulators are unprepared or unqualified to perform their task which puts the system and those in it at more risk than without them yet they have unprecedented power! BP?
Bottom line, the only way to stimulate the economy to create jobs is to create an environment in which entrepreneurs and investors feel confident they can create and grow enterprises with limited obstacles and lower taxes and that they will enjoy rewards if successful for taking the risk in the venture. Without a promise of reward, assumption of risk is left to fools who fail. Businesses take risks, they hire workers, participants make money and the economy hums. Otherwise, it just sputters til it runs out of gas. Why should one put time and money at risk to create success that only results in more tax and regulation that punish success? It is time to think clearly and replace entitlement with responsibility if we want our economy moving again. Obama is why the jobs are gone. Now, the RIGHT change is what we need!

Unions had a place in a changing work environment — a hundred years ago.

There’s a bigger Union here, and this is the only one that should remain… the American Citizen union. Join it. It’s free, but it’s not always easy. But it fosters the success of those who support its goals.

Yes, I’m the grandson of an immigrant. My grandfather came to the USA on a boat journey from Sweden, and when he got here, he adopted the American way of life, which he learned from other Swedes, who came here before him, and understood that this was what he was supposed to do – as an American – in order to achieve the greatness of the American way of life. He quickly learned English and adopted the American ways, and he succeeded during this life. He was an American of Swedish heritage… NOT a Swedish-American.

Not hyphenated. And proud to be an American first.

Unions are not needed now. Not for anyone following the existing American Laws and the ‘golden rule’ and the way of American Life as foreseen by our founding fathers.

Those who sell their souls to the Unions may indeed get a bigger paycheck and be ‘safer’ in their jobs… but at a great cost to our society as a collective. And for unions to push their own agenda by twisting the arms of the politicians they have in their vest pockets… they are working for their own gain, and again, not for the good of the country as a whole.

Just look how well unions are working for us now, and the jobs leaving the US to other non-union controlled places… because in the end, it comes down to ‘what it costs’.

We need to return our current society back to that first ‘Union’ — that of our founding fathers.

Come on, does this really surprise anyone? The unions are desperate to keep their puppets in office.
