Health Care – Gulp!?

March 4, 2010 by NC Tea Party Staff 1 Comment

The president and Democrats are trying to shove Health Care down our throats, we all know the story and we all know why. There is no sense in rehashing the story here, and you know where the Tea Party stands.

So again, let’s flood their offices with calls, emails, letters, and if you can visit them in person. Here is a list of them for your convenience.

  • Butterfield, G.K., North Carolina, 1st
  • Coble, Howard, North Carolina, 6th
  • Etheridge, Bob, North Carolina, 2nd
  • Foxx, Virginia, North Carolina, 5th
  • Jones, Walter B., North Carolina, 3rd
  • Kissell, Larry, North Carolina, 8th
  • McHenry, Patrick T., North Carolina, 10th
  • McIntyre, Mike, North Carolina, 7th
  • Miller, Brad, North Carolina, 13th
  • Myrick, Sue, North Carolina, 9th
  • Price, David, North Carolina, 4th
  • Shuler, Heath, North Carolina, 11th
  • Watt, Mel, North Carolina, 12th
  • Burr, Richard, North Carolina Senator
  • Hagan, Kay, North Carolina Senator

Slam them, overwhelm them, it makes no difference if they are a D or an R let them know. Especially Hagan.

Part of the problem as I see it is that hospitals are treating some patients who have never paid a dime of medical insurance. There is no incentive to get insurance if you’re going to be covered through Medicaid or written off by private hospitals and passed on to the other insurance holding patients. Richard Burr offers a thoughtful alternative, the Patient’s Choice Act, but his $2300 credit (for 32 million uninsured or $70 billion per year) for the uninsured would widen the deficit as much or more than Obamas.

From my view, the worst alternative would be to keep the system as it is because right now hospitals and Medicaid is paying for services for some patients who have never paid in. I’m not saying that I support Obamacare or Burrcare- they both are costly, but the plans by both politicians do induce some freeloaders to pay for medical services that they would otherwise get for free. I’ve read as much as I could about these plans, and maybe I’ve missed something, but it seems we have to address the way services are given to the poor and indigent or we don’t give them at all.
