‘The Tea Party Movement Is About To Be Hijacked’: Activists Slam Plan For Convention.
In the latest sign of rancor in Tea Party circles, a convention billed as an effort to bring together conservative activists from across the country is being attacked by some leading Tea Partiers as inauthentic, too tied to the GOP, and — at $549 per head — too expensive for the working Americans the movement aspires to represent.
The National Tea Party Convention, scheduled for early February in Nashville, grabbed headlines after announcing that Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann would appear as speakers, Palin as the keynote. According to a message on the convention’s website, the event “is aimed at bringing the Tea Party Movement leaders together from around the nation.” But organizers are a long way from unifying the notoriously fractious movement.

The Tea Party is a great thing. But you need to be aware that the wolf comes in sheeps clothing. Like Phillips who wants to make money. The Republican Party will try to take it over also. Beware of hidden agendas.
Voting for Scott Brown was a great move to put Washington on notice. Just remember what happened with Bush for 8 years. They will try anything to get back in the White House.
The Tea Party could be history making for the benefit of the People. Don’t let it get hijacked by Politicians and special interests. Phillips has shown his colors. Palin and the rest of them have their own interests and agendas.

Thanks for posting this article. I had no idea how much this thing costs nor did I know it was being put on by a for profit company.

I agree with Richard! It’s outrageous to read about but in a way I’m glad they are sitting up and taking notice.

I think that this could become an issue if people without our standards and belief in the Constitution continue to put on events for the sole purpose of making money. Everyone I know that is in a Tea Party is not in it for profit, while at the same time these groups, like this group NC Tea Party, have websites to maintain and have other bills and costs and need to make money through any means they legally can. As a member and a business owner I understand this and I routinely give to groups like this one and a few others that are more local. This National Tea Party Convention could actually be a good thing for these smaller Tea Parties because it will get more of the message out and possibly energize even more people.
Bottom line… these politicians are really starting to fear these Tea Party groups, and that is a Grand Happening!
