A True Call To Action

January 15, 2010 by NC Tea Party Staff 2 Comments

Folks we are putting aside politics (and our normal style of writing) in this post to urge everyone to give to those people in Haiti. Right now they really need our money and fast! People don’t even have aspirin to dull the pain, that is the pain that can be dulled. Little kids are finding their brothers and sisters dead, their moms and dads dead. Some are lucky enough to have the ones they love getting away with injuries they can recuperate from.

I came upstairs today to find my wife crying over the video, images and interviews of these people in Haiti. The reporter described this place as “hell on a normal day, and today hell is even worse.” That led me to come up with ideas to help these people as an individual and through the Tea Party.

Do as I did and look around your house to realize how good you have it, how good we all have it. Some of these people walk 30-40 miles to sell produce they have grown to support their family. Makes you wonder why we in this country complain about anything, we are all KINGS in these peoples eyes. The truth is wee can give and we can give a lot. My wife and I are starting a new business with 2 kids, living off savings and we have decided our new company is going to give at least a few hundred dollars (and I am not saying that to make us sound like gracious people). Why? Because we are in a situation in this country where we all can make money. We are all smart and able and we are lucky enough to live in the greatest nation on earth. They are simply not that lucky.

So let’s give them a hand up. The Tea Party is going to donate $5.00 for every T-shirt you buy from us until they are gone. This is the only way we make money to support our effort and we are willing to give that money up to these people. And we will furnish the receipt online so you know we sent the money to the most credible, and quickest, organization we could find. We will also post links below for you to send your donations through other places. We do not care how you choose to help, we just hope you do help in some way. After all this is one of the ideals all us Tea Party Members are about… helping your fellow man.

Here are 2 TRUSTED ways to help you donate:

— Texting HAITI to 90999: The U.S. Department of State’s Web site suggests texting “HAITI” to “90999” to donate $10 to the Red Cross to help with relief efforts. The $10 will be charged to your cell phone bill. Or you can go online to organizations like the Red Cross and Mercy Corps to contribute to the disaster relief efforts.

— Texting YELE to 501501: On Twitter, musician Wyclef Jean, a native of Haiti, notes, “Haiti needs your help text YELE to 501501 and 5 dollars will go toward earthquake relief.” Yele Haiti is a grassroots movement Jean has set up to inspire change in Haiti through programs in education, sports, the arts and environment.

According to the Internet Storm Center, both of these “text to” options are legitimate services: “Both short codes in use right now, 501501 and 90999, are tracing back to registered twitter accounts and I consider them authentic at this point,” says the Center’s Johannes B. Ullrich. But other text-to-donate services may arise, and not all of them will be trustworthy. Click here for more information on how to avoid a scam.

Helping Haiti is fruitiness. There is a culture war between the blacks and whites, which leaves the white race in steady decline in population. Helping people who won’t help themselves is not the mission of Christianity. It’s a liberal value, not our God given rights as free Americans. The neo-christains bring the orphans here to American only to see them grown up to become liberals. Some will be rapist, thieves and commit other Negro crimes

I applaud NC Tea Party for getting involved in the Haiti crisis. I too found myself in tears watching the news this week. I was looking around at my yard this morning noticing there were a few leaves that needed to be gotten up and I thought to myself “Is that my only concern today?”. While so many people are suffering in Haiti and around the world, I’m worrying about leaves that need to be gotten up. I sent up a quick prayer asking forgiveness for my selfishness and left the damn leaves. Then I come in to find this email alert from NC Tea Party. Thank you guys for reminding me the most important thing I could do in a day is to love & help others.
